stress in the workplace

What can help with stress in the Norfolk workplace

I’m sure many people have heard about the awful event that has just occurred involving the German wings pilot who crashed a plane taking the lives of 150 people. This has raised the issue of mental health in the workplace. AXA PPP has recently done a survey looking at company attitudes to mental health and how this affects their employees.

It is claimed that 7 out of 10 bosses do not take anxiety, stress or depression as a valid reason to have time off. Managers were asked about their attitude to staff that have a mental illness. 1 in 5 managers said they would worry about the capability of the person doing their job and 1 in 6 managers said they would worry about picking up additional work. It is no surprise that when employees were asked if they phoned in sick would they say it was due to anxiety, stress or depression only 39% said they would tell the truth.

So in the fast paced life we live in, its no wonder that one in four workers will struggle with mental health issues each year. What can companies do to help their employees? There are many different ways companies can help look after their employee’s mental and general health.

Tranquil Treatments provides a service to companies in the Norwich and Norfolk area offer massage therapy in the workplace. The CIPD absenteeism survey 2014 shows that there are many benefits to both the employer and the employee.

Many companies based near Norwich are under stress with today’s economic climate. Many workers are facing redundancy, restructuring in the workplace or are having extra duties added to their already busy work schedule. This takes a toll on the workforce. Both public and private sectors are equally affected. All work environments can benefit from workplace massage. I regularly visit a local hospital and supermarket on a monthly basis and will soon be providing the same service to a university and local restaurant. I have also been into care agencies, factories and a wine sales office.
